Pennsylvania Schools to Watch Program. The STW program is a branch of the National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform, and is designed to identify and create a network of middle level schools that fully demonstrate best practice in four categories: Academic Excellence, Developmental Responsiveness, Social Equity, and Organizational Structures and Processes. The STW evaluation team spent a full day interviewing students, staff, and parents at TVMS, and reviewing many documents related to our middle school organization and practice.
As a result of the evaluation, TVMS has been recognized with a Keystone Commendation from the Pennsylvania Schools to Watch State Team. This designation means that while the middle school was not rated to the degree necessary to be considered a “School to Watch,” it did score very favorably on the STW assessment rubric and has been encouraged to reapply for future consideration. In addition, TVMS has been invited to have a staff team present on a building-related strength at the February state conference of Pennsylvania Middle Level Educators in State College.
