#FeatureFriday: Mrs. Joli Mattia’s 5th-grade science class at Twin Valley Middle School had a stellar space unit, one that reached all the way to the International Space Station.
During parent-teacher conferences, Mrs. Mattia learned that one of her students’ families has a personal connection to NASA astronaut Sunita “Suni” Williams. At the time, Sunita was orbiting 250 miles above Earth aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Her mission was originally scheduled to last just eight days; however, due to safety issues with the spacecraft, she ended up spending nine months in space.
Things took an exciting turn when Mrs. Mattia’s class created a video message wishing Sunita and fellow astronaut Butch Wilmore a safe return. With help from NASA and the Alexander family, the message was sent directly to the ISS. This moment sparked what would become an extraordinary classroom experience.
Throughout her extended stay, Sunita shared emails, photos, and videos from space, offering students a firsthand look into astronaut life. This unforgettable experience brought science to life for our 5th graders, igniting a passion for exploration, curiosity, and real-world connection.
A sincere thank-you to the Alexander family, Mrs. Mattia, and, of course, astronaut Sunita Williams for helping our students reach for the stars and realize they just might reach them!

Happy Earth Day, Twin Valley! There are so many ways, both big and small, to make a positive impact on our planet, and our students are leading by example.
At Robeson Elementary Center, first grade students recently took part in a thoughtful and fun “spring cleaning” project. They brought in books from home that they no longer read, and for each book donated, they received a Book Buck to “purchase” a different book brought in by a fellow student.
This creative book exchange not only promoted a love for reading but also highlighted the importance of reusing and recycling - a perfect way to honor Earth Day!
How will you make a difference today?

Riding to School in Style: Last week, Honey Brook Elementary Center (HBEC) students Eleanor Logue, Lydia Eadline, Autumn Wray, and Mae Wray had a school drop-off they’ll never forget!

Thank you, Honey Brook Fire Company, for creating such memorable and exciting experiences for our students!

After months of dedication and preparation, our talented students delivered performances that were nothing short of extraordinary. From captivating vocals to impeccable choreography, Sister Act was brought to life in a way that will be remembered for years to come.
Behind the scenes, our skilled crew worked tirelessly to ensure a seamless production, from lighting and sound to stage coordination. In addition, our teachers, directors, and volunteers devoted countless hours of expertise that helped to make this production a reality.
A show of this caliber requires the commitment and collaboration of many. We celebrate the collective effort that resulted in such a remarkable performance and congratulate our students on a successful show. Meaningful Moments: This week, Robeson PTO hosted their annual 'Muffins with Mom' breakfast. This special event brings together moms, grandmoms, and other important figures in students’ lives for quality time before the school day begins.

Can you identify these birds?
Our fourth graders at Twin Valley Elementary Center can! Yesterday, students enjoyed an assembly from Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, where they learned about raptors up close and personal.
Fun Fact: Established in 1938, Hawk Mountain Sanctuary was the first refuge for birds of prey in the world.

Twin Valley High School's Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) recently had the opportunity to attend the Penn HOSA State Leadership Conference in Lancaster, PA. This event offered valuable opportunities for HOSA students to enhance their skills through exciting learning experiences while also connecting with other HOSA chapters across the state.
Congratulations to TVHS students Grace Kelly, who received a Certificate of Appreciation for her dedication to the TVHS blood drive, and Audrey Krumm, who was awarded the HOSA Happenings Recognition Award!

Athletic Highlight: Congratulations to Drew Engle of Twin Valley High School Lacrosse for breaking the school's total points record this week! #RaiderPride
