The Twin Valley High School Leo Club partnered with a former local police chief to organize a donation drive in support of hurricane victims in North Carolina. Together, they assembled hygiene kits for men, women, boys, and girls in color-coordinated bags and collected a trailer full of essential supplies, all generously donated by our school community.

#FeatureFriday: This weekend, both the TVHS Boys and Girls Cross Country teams are heading to Big Spring High School to compete in the District Championships!
Earlier this week, the Boys Team won the County Championships by a 30-point margin, while the Girls Team secured a strong 4th place finish. We wish both teams the best of luck as they take on this next challenge. Go Raiders!

Emily is currently enjoying an internship experience at Country Companion Animal Hospital in Morgantown. Twin Valley High School's Mission Possible recently visited The Clock Tower at Reading Hospital to drop off care packages for long-term care patients. This month’s baskets were filled with cozy pillows, coloring books with markers, fall crafts, fidgets, and message boards—all chosen to bring comfort and joy.
Last year, Mission Possible had just 10 members. Now, over 100 students are involved and the group continues to expand, finding new ways to support local hospitals beyond their monthly care baskets.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation who took the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Mikayla, Ella, and Abigail were awarded A Letter of Commendation from Twin Valley High School and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®) in honor of this achievement.
"Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success," commented a spokesperson for NMSC. The TVHS Ski Club is excited about another season on the slopes. The deadline to purchase a ticket to Friday’s Homecoming Dance is tomorrow, Wednesday, October 2nd. Tickets will be on sale from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. in the High School Lobby and during all lunches. No tickets will be sold after 1:08 p.m. tomorrow.
TVHS will administer the PSAT to all 10th and 11th Grade students on Tuesday, October 22nd. In order to accommodate this large-scale testing, students who are not taking the PSAT will not attend school in-person on Tuesday, October 22nd. Please see the email that was sent on 9/25 for more information.
On Tuesday, October 1st there will be Technical School presentations to the entire freshman class. At 8:00 am freshmen who reside in Berks County will report to the auditorium to hear a presentation from Berks Career & Technical Center (BCTC), and those who reside in Chester County will report to the cafeteria to hear a presentation from Technical College High School (TCHS Brandywine Campus). In addition to information about the technical schools, there will be an opportunity to visit these schools and permission slips will be handed out at the end of each presentation. #FeatureFriday: Congratulations to our September 2024 TVSD Rotary Students of the Month, Jackson Kinsey and Mikayla Riehl!
Jackson Kinsey, a senior at Twin Valley High School, plans to pursue Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science in college, driven by his love for math and problem-solving. Ranked third in his class with a GPA of 4.463, he has excelled academically and athletically, setting school records in Cross Country and Track, and competing at both State and National levels. As a leader and co-captain of his teams, Jackson has also contributed to his community through various clubs, volunteering, and mentoring underclassmen.
Mikayla Riehl is a dedicated student-athlete with a 4.438 GPA, excelling in AP and honors courses, and receiving awards for academic excellence in subjects like Physics, Algebra II, and AP US History. She is Vice President of NHS and actively participates in several clubs while balancing work and sports. Passionate about volleyball, Mikayla will play at Shepherd University, where she plans to major in Exercise Science and pursue a career in the sport.

Our school will be conducting a school security drill today at 10:45 a.m. During this drill, students will practice a lockdown in their classrooms. A lockdown is one of the five actions in the Standard Response Protocol (SRP). For more information about the SRP, please www.tvsd.org and click on the "Emergency Plan" link under the "About Us" menu.
Again, today's exercise is only a drill, which has been scheduled in advance to ensure that our students and staff are prepared in case of an emergency. We will be working closely with the Caernarvon Township Police during the drill.

The Student Assistance Program (SAP) offers voluntary, short-term, skills-based small groups to support students on various topics throughout the school year. Groups will meet for a 40-minute session each week for eight weeks. The following groups may be offered:
Emotional Management: Do you feel angry a lot? Is stress getting in the way of your relationships with friends, family, or teachers? Learn tools and strategies to keep your cool and express your anger in a better way.
CARE Together: Gain skills needed to quit or reduce cannabis use. Learn about the impact of cannabis and develop strategies to address your use.
Changing Families: Learn to cope with the different feelings and stress of being part of a family. Topics covered include divorce, separation, parental conflicts, sibling conflicts, and blended families.
Grief/Loss: If someone close to you is sick or has passed away, this group will help you understand and deal with feelings around your loss.
Kids of Promise: Is someone you love struggling with drug/alcohol use? Learn how to care for yourself when dealing with addiction.
Project Connect: Plan, prepare, and develop skills that will help you reduce or quit nicotine use.
Mindfulness: Mindfulness is the awareness of one's current emotional, physical, and mental state and environmental surroundings. In this group, students will learn to focus one's thoughts on present experiences rather than past events or thoughts of future tasks
Resiliency: Gain skills needed to boost optimism, build strong relationships, focus on goals, become a problem solver, and find your personal strengths.
Role Models for Change: Do you see yourself as a leader? Are you interested in leadership opportunities? This group will help you develop and enhance leadership skills through team-building exercises and effective communication skills and provide you with an opportunity to teach your peers about the dangers of nicotine use.
Teen Topics (Boys/Girls): This group covers peer pressure, school stress, time management, friend/family issues, and issues surrounding social media.
Students interested in participating in a SAP group should complete the "SAP Group Interest Survey" in their grade-level Schoology page. As SAP groups are formed, a member of the SAP team will reach out to families of interested students with more information.

Yesterday evening, the Twin Valley Music Department hosted their Annual Instrumental Fair, attracting over 90 novice instrumentalists.
The evening began with an inspiring performance by the High School Marching Band, coupled with the welcoming presence of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. Students received personalized instruction from teachers and high school instrumentalists on proper hand placement and sound production techniques for their preferred instruments.
Thank you to all who attended in support of our growing music program. Additionally, we extended gratitude to the Twin Valley Music Boosters for their contribution of a raffle and musical accessories for the emerging musicians. We look forward to hearing all of the beautiful music our students will be making this year!
