#FeatureFriday: In October, the Music Educators of Berks County (MEBC) and the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) held auditions for the Senior County Chorus Festival. Our students worked diligently to prepare their audition pieces, and their hard work paid off with outstanding performances. Fall conferences will be held on Monday, November 25th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on Tuesday, November 26th from 12:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The window to schedule a conference will open this Thursday, November 14th at noon; the deadline to schedule a conference is Friday, November 22nd at noon. To access the conference scheduler, please visit https://tvsd.meettheteacher.com/ after noon on Thursday, November 14th. The scheduling website will list all of your student’s current teachers; please note that spring conferences for second semester classes are scheduled for March 20th, 2025. Conferences may be conducted in person or via Google Meet; if you would like a Google Meet conference, please type that in the “Add Message for Teacher” box that appears when scheduling the appointment and email your student's teacher(s) to request a link. If you wish to schedule a conference with a learning support teacher, counselor, or other school personnel, please contact them directly. If you have any questions or difficulty scheduling a conference, please call Mrs. Pufnock in the high school office at 610-286-8600 x8612. The Twin Valley High School Leo Club partnered with a former local police chief to organize a donation drive in support of hurricane victims in North Carolina. Together, they assembled hygiene kits for men, women, boys, and girls in color-coordinated bags and collected a trailer full of essential supplies, all generously donated by our school community. A huge thank you to our Leo Club members for their dedication to helping others, and to all the volunteers who played a role in gathering supplies, packing boxes, loading the trailer, and more! #WellnessWednesday #RaiderPride

Earlier this week, the Boys Team won the County Championships by a 30-point margin, while the Girls Team secured a strong 4th place finish. Twin Valley High School's Mission Possible recently visited The Clock Tower at Reading Hospital to drop off care packages for long-term care patients. This month’s baskets were filled with cozy pillows, coloring books with markers, fall crafts, fidgets, and message boards—all chosen to bring comfort and joy. Last year, Mission Possible had just 10 members. Now, over 100 students are involved and the group continues to expand, finding new ways to support local hospitals beyond their monthly care baskets. #MotivationMonday: Generosity is contagious! Please join us in congratulating Twin Valley High School Seniors, Mikayla Riehl, Ella Slider, and Abigail Walker, who have been named Commended Students in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation who took the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Mikayla, Ella, and Abigail were awarded A Letter of Commendation from Twin Valley High School and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®) in honor of this achievement. "Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success," commented a spokesperson for NMSC. "These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. TVHS will administer the PSAT to all 10th and 11th Grade students on Tuesday, October 22nd. In order to accommodate this large-scale testing, students who are not taking the PSAT will not attend school in-person on Tuesday, October 22nd. On Tuesday, October 1st there will be Technical School presentations to the entire freshman class. At 8:00 am freshmen who reside in Berks County will report to the auditorium to hear a presentation from Berks Career & Technical Center (BCTC), and those who reside in Chester County will report to the cafeteria to hear a presentation from Technical College High School (TCHS Brandywine Campus). In addition to information about the technical schools, there will be an opportunity to visit these schools and permission slips will be handed out at the end of each presentation. #FeatureFriday: Congratulations to our September 2024 TVSD Rotary Students of the Month, Jackson Kinsey and Mikayla Riehl! Jackson Kinsey, a senior at Twin Valley High School, plans to pursue Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science in college, driven by his love for math and problem-solving. Ranked third in his class with a GPA of 4.463, he has excelled academically and athletically, setting school records in Cross Country and Track, and competing at both State and National levels. As a leader and co-captain of his teams, Jackson has also contributed to his community through various clubs, volunteering, and mentoring underclassmen. Mikayla Riehl is a dedicated student-athlete with a 4.438 GPA, excelling in AP and honors courses, and receiving awards for academic excellence in subjects like Physics, Algebra II, and AP US History. She is Vice President of NHS and actively participates in several clubs while balancing work and sports. Passionate about volleyball, Mikayla will play at Shepherd University, where she plans to major in Exercise Science and pursue a career in the sport.
